While heavy damage can be caused quickly with standard drill bits, the Göldo 10mm Triple Edge Countersink bit (MFG#WS10S) makes it possible to open up/widen pre-existing tuner holes, even those filled with varnish, to the required 10mm diameter needed for most tuning machines. Simply drive the countersink as far into the hole as necessary.
